Who's it for and what's it about?

Public speaking does not need to be in front of a particularly big audience to be daunting: it may be presenting to your committee/board; your team or the senior team; or speaking at the AGM to your tenants. It is one of those skills that most of us would like to improve upon.

This course is part of our “New Year, New You” programme which will help delegates work on some essential skills and tackle those professional New Year resolutions. It is a well-known fact that what we say is only a small part of what our audience take in so this course will address all aspects of public speaking, not only the underlying confidence.

Course Outline

  • Body language
  • Voice projection: using your voice and tone to improve your delivery
  • Pacing your speech to ensure you are heard
  • Remembering what you want to say
  • Building confidence

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, delegates should:

  • Be more confident when speaking in front of an audience
  • Understand the different aspects of delivering a speech or making a presentation that affect audience perception and be able to use these to enhance your delivery
  • Learn how to be more confident generally
